2. Data Collection

Cozy Chess is designed to be a fully offline, privacy-first application. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information whatsoever.

Our Commitment

  • No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
  • No Account Required: Cozy Chess does not require registration, login, or any form of authentication to use.
  • No Analytics or Tracking: The app does not integrate any analytics services, trackers, or telemetry. We do not monitor your usage behaviour.
  • No Advertisements: The application does not display ads and does not share data with any advertising networks or third parties.
  • No Internet Required: The app functions entirely offline. No network requests are made during gameplay, puzzle solving, or training.

3. Local Storage

Cozy Chess stores a small amount of data locally on your device only using the Shared Preferences mechanism provided by your operating system. This data never leaves your device.

What Is Stored Locally

  • User Preferences: Your settings such as volume levels (music and SFX), board flip preference, move confirmation toggle, and graphics quality options.
  • Game Progress: Puzzle completion states and training progress, so you can pick up where you left off.

This data is stored exclusively on your device. If you uninstall the app or clear the app's data, all locally stored preferences and progress will be permanently deleted. We have no access to this data at any time.

4. AI Opponent (Stockfish)

Cozy Chess uses the Stockfish chess engine as an AI opponent. Stockfish runs entirely on your device — no chess moves, board positions, or game data are ever sent to an external server. All computations happen locally on your hardware.

5. Audio & Media

The app includes background music and sound effects for an immersive chess experience. All audio assets are bundled within the application and played locally. No audio data is recorded, streamed from the internet, or transmitted externally. All audio is opt-in and can be fully configured or muted through the in-app settings.

6. Gamepad & Input

Cozy Chess supports Xbox and DualSense controllers for navigation and gameplay. Controller input is processed locally on your device. No input data — whether from touch, mouse, keyboard, or gamepad — is collected, logged, or transmitted.

7. Third-Party Services

Cozy Chess does not integrate any third-party services that collect user data. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting tools, no social media integrations, and no advertising frameworks embedded in the app.

The only external libraries used are open-source packages for chess logic, audio playback, gamepad support, and local storage — none of which transmit data off your device.

8. Children's Privacy

Cozy Chess does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children. The app is safe for users of all ages. Since no data is collected or transmitted, there are no age-related privacy concerns.

9. Cross-Platform

Cozy Chess is available on Android and Windows. This privacy policy applies equally to all platforms. The app's privacy behaviour is identical regardless of which platform you use — no data is collected on any platform.
