2. Data Collection

Cozy Checker is a privacy-first application. The only data we collect is anonymous usage data through Firebase Analytics. We do not collect any personal or user-identifying information.

Our Commitment

  • No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
  • No Account Required: Cozy Checker does not require registration, login, or any form of authentication to use.
  • No Advertisements: The application does not display ads and does not share data with any advertising networks.
  • No Third-Party Trackers: Beyond Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage metrics, no other trackers or telemetry services are integrated.

3. Firebase Analytics (Usage Data Only)

Cozy Checker uses Firebase Analytics by Google to collect anonymous usage data. This data is about how the app is used — not about who is using it. We use this information solely to understand app performance and improve the experience.

What Is Collected

  • Usage Events: Actions such as starting a game, completing a match, opening menus, or changing settings.
  • Session Information: Anonymous session duration and frequency of use.
  • Device & App Info: Generic device type, operating system version, and app version — used to diagnose compatibility issues.

What Is NOT Collected

  • No Personal Identifiers: No names, emails, phone numbers, or account credentials.
  • No Game Content: Your moves, board positions, and match history are never sent anywhere.
  • No Precise Location: No GPS or precise location data is collected.
  • No Contacts or Media: No access to contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.

4. Local Storage

Cozy Checker stores a small amount of data locally on your device only using the Shared Preferences mechanism provided by your operating system. This data never leaves your device.

What Is Stored Locally

  • User Preferences: Settings such as volume levels (music and SFX), board flip preference, move confirmation toggle, and graphics quality.
  • Game Progress: Match progress and training state, so you can pick up where you left off.

If you uninstall the app or clear the app's data, all locally stored preferences and progress will be permanently deleted.

5. AI Opponent

Cozy Checker includes an AI opponent that runs entirely on your device — no moves, board positions, or game data are ever sent to an external server. All computations happen locally on your hardware.

6. Audio & Media

The app includes background music and sound effects for an immersive checkers experience. All audio assets are bundled within the application and played locally. No audio data is recorded, streamed from the internet, or transmitted externally. Audio is opt-in and can be fully configured or muted through the in-app settings.

7. Gamepad & Input

Cozy Checker supports Xbox and DualSense controllers for navigation and gameplay. Controller input is processed locally on your device. No input data — whether from touch, mouse, keyboard, or gamepad — is collected, logged, or transmitted.

8. Third-Party Services

The only third-party service integrated in Cozy Checker is Firebase Analytics, used exclusively for anonymous usage metrics as described in Section 3. No other analytics SDKs, crash-reporting tools, social media integrations, or advertising frameworks are embedded in the app.

Other external libraries used are open-source packages for checkers logic, audio playback, gamepad support, and local storage — none of which transmit data off your device.

9. Children's Privacy

Cozy Checker does not collect any personally identifiable information from anyone, including children. The Firebase Analytics data collected is anonymous and aggregated. The app is safe for users of all ages.

10. Cross-Platform

Cozy Checker is available on Android and Windows. This privacy policy applies equally to all platforms. The app's privacy behaviour is identical regardless of which platform you use.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Since we do not collect any contact information, we encourage you to review this page periodically.
